For people who enjoy walking while enjoying peace and close contact with nature, there are many routes along country roads that can be easily planned on your own, or you can follow sections of existing marked walking trails.

Marked walking trails
- Nature and educational walking path
- Length: approx. 7 km (loop)
- Walking time: 1.5-2 hours
- Route: start and finish in the center of Kruklanki
- Unique points: demolished railway bridge, viewpoint over Lake Patelnia, the history of Himmler and Gen. "Grot" Rowecki
This is a short, two-stage loop route starting and ending in the center of Kruklanki (about 7 km). Along the route there are 12 themed stops with information boards, from which you can learn a lot about local fauna, flora, history, and culture.
- Camino Polaco (St. James Way)
- Section: Olecko - Kruklanki - Gizycko
- Part of the UNESCO trail to Santiago de Compostela
- Route: through the Borki Reserve and Borecka Forest, bison enclosure, Lakes Goldopiwo and Brozowka
This is part of one of the St. James routes. The trail runs through, among others, Poland, Germany, France, all the way to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. According to legend, this is where the miraculously rediscovered tomb of one of the apostles, St. James the Greater, is located. Since 1993, the St. James Way has been listed as UNESCO World Heritage.

- Connects with the blue trail, starts in Jasieniec
- Route: through Zabinka, the "Lipowy Jar" Reserve, Lake Pilwag, to Goldap
- Part of the European E11 trail (Netherlands-Latvia)
